Love Oracle Belline card meaning

Love, printed as L'Amour, is card 29 of 53 in the Oracle Belline, in the Venus series. Love is the heart of Venus. Whether romantic or not, it asks how you express affection and how well you allow yourself to receive it.

Context and symbolism

What Love is about

Love is a Venus card, and it's exactly what you'd hope for: two red hearts, a little wreath of flowers, and a sweet bird perched beneath them. Venus is the planet of love, so this is her card at its most direct. In the Belline it covers romance, affection and tenderness. It doesn't tell you who loves you or how anyone feels. It's about love as something you practise, give, receive and notice.

In everyday life

Love shows up as an invitation to be a bit more open-hearted. That might be with a partner, a crush, a friend, a pet, or yourself. It's also a good day to look at how you show love and how you like to receive it, because those two often don't match, and that's where lots of misunderstandings come from. Love isn't only grand gestures. It's often small, repeated kindness. And remember, love isn't a test you pass or fail. It's something you keep practising.

  • 29. Love

Maybe your partner shows love by doing jobs around the house, and you'd really like a hug or a kind word. Telling them that, warmly and without blame, could help you both feel more loved.

  • 29. Love

Or you're single and feeling a bit low about it. Doing something kind for yourself today, like cooking a proper meal or buying flowers for your own table, still counts as love.

Love, work and money

Love in the main areas of life

In love and relationships

In love, the Love card is affection and tenderness in its simplest form. It asks how you show care and how you like to receive it. For example, if you show love by doing chores and your partner shows it through words, you might be missing each other's signals. Try learning one of their ways this week.

At work and in study

At work, Love asks whether you care about what you do. Passion for your work isn't necessary every day, but some warmth helps. Say you've lost interest. Remember what drew you to this field in the first place. Love here can also mean kindness to colleagues, which makes any workplace better.

With money and resources

With money, Love can point to spending on loved ones or on what you love. For example, if you overspend on presents to show affection, consider whether time or a handwritten note would mean just as much. Love isn't measured in price tags.

I read Belline cards with the picture the right way up, rather than assigning a second meaning when a card is upside down. I consider its name, planetary group and any neighbouring cards together when explaining a reading.

Things to try today

  • Tell one person you care about exactly what you appreciate about them.
  • Notice how you like to receive love, like words, time, touch, help or little gifts, and write it down.
  • Do one loving thing for yourself that you'd happily do for a friend.

How do I show love, and how do I prefer to receive it?
