The Table Oracle Belline card meaning

The Table, printed as La Table, is card 30 of 53 in the Oracle Belline, in the Venus series. The Table is a meal shared, a welcome extended. It brings attention to hospitality, nourishment and the small rituals of being together.

Context and symbolism

What The Table is about

The Table is a Venus card that shows a tall vase and a goblet set out, ready for guests. Venus loves pleasure and company, and in the Belline this card is about hospitality: sharing food, gathering people, and the good feeling of sitting down together. It's warm, generous and a bit indulgent. Think long lunches, Sunday dinners and friends lingering over the last glass.

In everyday life

Day to day, the Table asks who you've been sharing meals and time with lately. For many of us, eating has turned into something done in a hurry, at a desk or on the sofa. This card is a friendly push to bring a bit of ceremony back. It's also about being a good host, making people feel welcome, and accepting other people's welcome too. There's also something lovely about who gets a seat. A table is a place where people are included. Think about whether there's someone who could use an invitation right now, maybe someone new to the area, or someone who's been a bit lonely lately. A plate of food and a chair can say a lot.

  • 30. The Table

Say you always eat lunch at your laptop. Taking twenty minutes to sit somewhere else, even on a bench, can make a surprising difference to your afternoon.

  • 30. The Table

Or it's been ages since you had friends round. A simple pasta night with whoever's free doesn't need to be fancy to be lovely.

Love, work and money

The Table in the main areas of life

In love and relationships

In love, the Table is about hospitality and gathering, sharing meals and conversation. For example, if you and your partner rarely eat together, set one evening a week for a proper dinner at the table, phones away. Many good talks start over food.

At work and in study

At work, the Table points to meetings, team gatherings and networking over a meal. Say you want to get to know a new team. Suggest a lunch. It also asks you to make your 'table' welcoming: are new people included in conversations, or left at the edges?

With money and resources

With money, the Table asks about food and entertaining costs. For example, if takeaways eat into your budget, try cooking a big batch on Sunday. Or if you love hosting, plan potluck dinners where everyone brings a dish. Hospitality doesn't have to be expensive to be warm.

I read Belline cards with the picture the right way up, rather than assigning a second meaning when a card is upside down. I consider its name, planetary group and any neighbouring cards together when explaining a reading.

Things to try today

  • Eat one meal today sitting down properly, with no screen.
  • Invite someone for a coffee or a meal this week, even if it's just toast and tea.
  • Lay the table nicely tonight, even if you're eating alone. It's a small act of care.

Who would I like to share a table with, and what would I like to talk about?
