What The Mice is about

The Mice is card 23. Hechtel's picture shows a little group of mice nibbling away at food. Mice are small, but they can get through a lot over time. In the Lenormand, this card is about gradual loss, worry and things being eaten away bit by bit. It can be literal, like money or time slipping away, or emotional, like stress nibbling at your peace of mind. Its playing-card inset is the 7 of Clubs.

In everyday life

The Mice is about small drains. The subscription you forgot about, the habit that eats your evenings, the worry that keeps you up. None of it seems big on its own, but it adds up. The good news is that small drains can usually be fixed with small actions. It's not about panic. It's about noticing and plugging the gaps. It's also a card about worry itself. Anxious thoughts can scurry round and round, nibbling at your sleep. Getting them out of your head and onto paper often makes them smaller and easier to deal with.

  • 23. The Mice

Say you're always a bit short at the end of the month and can't work out why. Looking through your bank statement could reveal a few little leaks you could stop.

  • 23. The Mice

Or a worry has been nibbling at you all week. Writing it down and deciding on one thing you can do about it can stop it eating more of your energy.

Love, work and money

The Mice in the main areas of life

In love and relationships

In love, the Mice are small worries that nibble away. For example, if little irritations like a partner's lateness are building up unspoken, mention one kindly before it becomes a big resentment. The Mice ask you to deal with small things while they're small.

At work and in study

At work, the Mice point to erosion: stress building, small errors, time slipping away. Say your inbox has crept to hundreds of unread messages. Spend twenty minutes archiving and replying. The Mice also ask what's draining your energy bit by bit, and whether it can be fixed.

With money and resources

With money, the Mice are small leaks: fees, subscriptions, little purchases that add up. For example, track every small spend for one week. You might find you're losing a surprising amount to snacks or apps. Plugging small leaks often makes a bigger difference than one big cut.

Lenormand cards are traditionally read upright. Meaning comes from the neighbouring cards, not from which way up a card lands.

Things to try today

  • Spot one small drain on your money, time or energy and fix it.
  • Write down whatever's worrying you, then one practical step for each worry.
  • Have a quick tidy-up, since clutter can nibble away at your calm too.

What small, repeated drain could I stop or reduce today?
