What The Moon is about

The Moon is card 32. Hechtel's picture shows a moon in the night sky. In the Lenormand, the Moon is about emotions, intuition, and also recognition and reputation. That last bit might surprise you, but in the old tradition, the Moon is linked with honour and how others see you. It's also about creativity and the dreamy, imaginative side of life. Its playing-card inset is the 8 of Hearts.

In everyday life

The Moon invites you to tune in to your feelings and your creative side. It's also about being recognised, getting credit for your work or noticing how others see you. Moods can shift like the moon's phases, so it's a good day to be kind to yourself if you're feeling up and down. The Moon is also about the rhythms in your life. Notice whether you have more energy at certain times of day or certain weeks, and plan around them if you can. Working with your natural cycles rather than against them can make a real difference to how you feel. It's not about being perfect. It's about knowing yourself a little better.

  • 32. The Moon

Say you've done great work and nobody's noticed. Mentioning it, calmly and clearly, could help you get the recognition you've earned.

  • 32. The Moon

Or you've been feeling a bit dreamy and unfocused. Channelling it into something creative, like writing, drawing or music, could turn it into something lovely.

Love, work and money

The Moon in the main areas of life

In love and relationships

In love, the Moon is emotion, sensitivity and the wish to be seen. For example, if you feel unappreciated, tell your partner what kind of recognition would mean something to you, like a thank-you or a mention in front of friends. The Moon also asks you to notice how your moods colour your view of a relationship.

At work and in study

At work, the Moon points to recognition and reputation. Say you'd like to be known for a particular skill. Share your work where people will see it, and ask for feedback. The Moon also favours creative work and intuition, so trust your instincts on the projects that move you.

With money and resources

With money, the Moon asks about emotional spending and income from reputation. For example, if you freelance, much of your work may come through word of mouth, so look after your reputation. Notice whether you spend more when you're feeling low, and plan a cheaper comfort for those days.

Lenormand cards are traditionally read upright. Meaning comes from the neighbouring cards, not from which way up a card lands.

Things to try today

  • Notice your mood at three points today and jot it down.
  • Spend some time on something creative, without judging the result.
  • Acknowledge someone else's work publicly, or let your own work be seen.

What feeling keeps returning to me lately, and what is it asking for?
